Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Erick was raised in Cape Verde, representing the country's youth national team at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nianjing, China. This came following standout performances for Cumberland High School, after which he played collegiately for Johnson & Wales University.

Erick's approach to coaching emphasizes holistic growth in technical skills, decision-making, team work, and mental resilience. When off the field, he enjoys playing the drums and guitar.
