Pre-MLS Academy I.D. Clinics

Take the next step with us.

Rhode Island Surf is officially a member of the Northeast Academy League (NEAL), with the club's U11 & U12 boys teams beginning play in the New England Academy Division in the Fall of 2026.

Surf's addition to the league represents yet another major step forward in the enhancement and alignment of our boys player pathway. Through its strategic partnership with MLS NEXT, the NEAL serves as an excellent stepping stone for 9v9 players aspiring to play in the Academy Division and beyond.

This program aims to bring the top boys U11 & U12 players across Rhode Island, Southern Massachusetts, and Eastern Connecticut together to compete in New England's elite club platform.

What is the

Northeast Academy League?

The Northeast Academy U11/U12 platform is designed to create a consistent, high quality development environment across all member clubs in 9v9 format. The focus is on player growth and education with long-term pathway success. The New England Academy Division will feature eleven clubs, all of which compete in the MLS NEXT Academy Division in the 11v11 format. All teams in the NEAL must be lead by USSF 'C' Licensed or equivalent coaches. League games consist of three 25-minute periods to maximize the player's on-field developmental experience.
