About

Born in the States, he relocated back to Northern Ireland with his family, but returned to spend his formative years in New Jersey playing his college soccer at Rider College. Following his time at Rider, McGirr went on to a 20-year illustrious NCAA Division I coaching career coaching at such prestigious schools as Lafayette (men's), Rutgers, Loyola (Md), Villanova, Providence College. He has worked with some of the top players during their youth/college career including Olympic Gold Medalists and World Cup Champions Carly Lloyd, Tobin Heath, Jill Loyden.

After joining Rhode Island Surf in 2020 McGirr continued his successful coaching career and winning championships.
